Ilmenauer Magnettag 2026 successfully held

The 9th Ilmenauer Magnettag took place successfully on 18 March 2026 in Ilmenau, bringing together researchers, developers, testing specialists and industrial users working in the field of electromagnetic systems.

Organized by the Department of Mechatronics of the Technische Universität Ilmenau in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Jürgen Ulm (Hochschule Heilbronn – Campus Künzelsau – Reinhold-Würth-Hochschule) and MagTronX GmbH (formerly Ilmenauer Mechatronik GmbH), the symposium once again provided a platform for exchanging the latest developments in electromagnetic actuators, magnetic measurement technology, material characterization and testing methods.

A particular highlight of this year's program was the new "Inside Solenoid" workshop, which took place on 17 March 2026. The practice-oriented workshop offered participants valuable insights into magnet design and complemented the conference program with hands-on technical knowledge.

The lecture program covered a broad range of current research and industrial applications, including electromagnetic actuator design, sensorless position determination, temperature effects on electromagnetic systems, magnetic material innovations and modern manufacturing methods.

In addition to supporting the organization of the event, we were also pleased to contribute to the technical program. Jörn Frasch presented the lecture "Force Determination in Polarized Systems Based on the Linked Magnetic Flux Psi(i)", highlighting practical approaches for the characterization of electromagnetic systems.

The Ilmenauer Magnettag is held every two years and has established itself as one of the leading specialist events for applied research and development in the field of electromagnetic systems. The next Ilmenauer Magnettag is expected to take place in 2028.
